Piano

The piano was invented in Italy by Bartolomeo Cristofori about 1700. It is a stringed instrument. The strings are struck by wooden hammers which are coated with a soft material at the end. These hammers are operated by pressing down on the white and black keys of the keyboard.

The piano is an excellent first instrument and introduction to music. Music theory is largely based on the piano keyboard so understanding the piano and the sounds of its keys, will help the student in their overall music ability and understanding.

At the Mid-West Vocal Academy and Music School, we have three piano teachers and currently offer piano lessons on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Our teachers are:
Irina Dernova
Meaghan Haughian
Niamh Irwin
